ResumeDecisionError

Class: ResumeDecisionError

Defined in: src/core/pause.ts:430

Raised by a resume when the decision cannot answer the request the run is paused on. The tool never runs: the refusal comes before it, and a decision is never re-read as a decline or as anyone else's answer.

A consent gate (a tool's checkIn, a middleware's ask) mints a request id when it pauses (CheckInRequest.id, MiddlewareAsk.id). The id is unique to that pause and bound to the exact call that runs on approval — the tool, its arguments, the call id, the served party and, for an ask, where the chain resumes and the names of the rules from there on. A decision names it (checkInApproved({ request, by })), and a resume holds the decision to it: the same request, the same call, once.

Every refusal but 'already-answered' is decided before anything moves on an agent's own resume(); the checkpoint is unchanged and can be answered with the right decision. 'already-answered' — and every refusal of a composition's nested agent — is decided where the decision is used, inside the resumed run and still before the tool. See ResumeDecisionRefusal.

It names no request id — not in its message, not on a field — and a host sends its message as the refusal's body. A refusal that named the request the run is paused on would hand out the very id it exists to require: a client that retried with it would approve a request nobody was shown. The paused request is the server's to show; it is in the stored pause (PendingAsk.checkIn / .ask), never in an error.

stackTraceLimit

static stackTraceLimit: number

Defined in: node_modules/@types/node/globals.d.ts:67

The Error.stackTraceLimit property specifies the number of stack frames collected by a stack trace (whether generated by new Error().stack or Error.captureStackTrace(obj)).

The default value is 10 but may be set to any valid JavaScript number. Changes will affect any stack trace captured after the value has been changed.

If set to a non-number value, or set to a negative number, stack traces will not capture any frames.

Error.stackTraceLimit

Methods

captureStackTrace()

static captureStackTrace(targetObject, constructorOpt?): void

Defined in: node_modules/@types/node/globals.d.ts:51

Creates a .stack property on targetObject, which when accessed returns a string representing the location in the code at which Error.captureStackTrace() was called.

const myObject = {};
Error.captureStackTrace(myObject);
myObject.stack;  // Similar to `new Error().stack`

The first line of the trace will be prefixed with ${myObject.name}: ${myObject.message}.

The optional constructorOpt argument accepts a function. If given, all frames above constructorOpt, including constructorOpt, will be omitted from the generated stack trace.

The constructorOpt argument is useful for hiding implementation details of error generation from the user. For instance:

function a() {
  b();
}

function b() {
  c();
}

function c() {
  // Create an error without stack trace to avoid calculating the stack trace twice.
  const { stackTraceLimit } = Error;
  Error.stackTraceLimit = 0;
  const error = new Error();
  Error.stackTraceLimit = stackTraceLimit;

  // Capture the stack trace above function b
  Error.captureStackTrace(error, b); // Neither function c, nor b is included in the stack trace
  throw error;
}

a();
